Plexus FS has completed the installation of a new, state-of-the-art safety system at one of Swansea’s newest, and most prestigious student accommodation developments, Crown Place.
The one-of-a-kind Swansea student accommodation block has luxury en-suite and studio rooms, as well as enviable views over the River Tawe and Swansea Marina.
“We were delighted to secure this contract to work with developers Crown Student Living,” said sales manager Jamie Grey “and are proud to have signed off on the installation of a state-of-the-art fire safety and IP CCTV system.”
As an Elite Systems Integrator for GENT, the market-leading fire detection system from Honeywell, Plexus was perfectly placed to meet the installation needs of the project brief.
“As an Elite Systems Integrator within the Network, we are approved by GENT to install their systems, so when the Crown Project stated this as their preferred brand for this project, we knew we could deliver.”
With over 900 units installed throughout the site in total, from bedrooms and kitchens to communal areas, staircases and more, the Plexus team linked the devices to one of 2 master control panels and 6 repeater panels – one for each floor of the development.
Alongside fire safety, they also installed over 145 IP CCTV Cameras, which not only gave 100% coverage of the interior and exterior but due to the proximity of the site to the River Tawe and Swansea Marina, waterproof units were installed on the outside of the building to withstand the elements.
“This was a comprehensive project,” said Jamie, “but we have extensive experience working on developments of this size, and it was good to be working locally for a change, especially on such a landmark development such as this.”
