Plas Melyn Retirement Housing in Portmead, Swansea has benefited from increased security thanks to a new automated door entry system installed by fire and security specialists, Plexus FS.
The project, led by Plexus’ automation expert Richard Bennett, saw the full replacement of the old system and a more secure, more appealing entry point installed in its place.
“We have been working with the team at Swansea Housing Authority for many years,” said Richard, “and when they approached us with a view to replacing the door entry system, we were only too happy to help.”
As a sheltered accommodation site with 56 flats, security and access control to the site is of paramount importance to both the residents and staff, however, the old system was failing and a new system was required.
“After surveying the site,” explained Richard, “we proposed a solution that would see the complete removal of the old door and surrounding structures to be replaced with a state-of-the-art system that enhanced security while being more welcoming to residents, staff and visitors.”
Working closely with Plexus’ in-house installation team as well as members of the Council’s own contractors and staff at Plas Melyn, the replacement door was fitted with minimal disruption.
“The team at the home now have a more secure system to control the main entry and exit point to the building that keeps staff and residents safe, while being more pleasing to the eye.”
