Plexus FS has been the primary service provider for safety and security services at Ysgol y Strade since 2017.
During that time, Plexus FS built a strong relationship with the leadership team at the Welsh medium secondary school and 6th form and undertook major upgrades and maintenance of all systems.

CCTV
Within a school environment, CCTV is of paramount importance for the safety of both staff and students and we have undertaken a range of projects that have included:
Installation of new Hikvision cameras:
Taking advantage of the 2018 Summer Holidays to minimise disruption, we installed 38 networked cameras at the main school, covering both the interior and exterior. This was followed up during the October Half-Term of 2018 with the installation of 3 additional cameras within the 6th Form block.
We added an additional 2 cameras to the Dining Block area during the October Half-Term of 2019 as well as an additional7 cameras (4 external 3 internal) at various locations across the property.
CCTV Maintenance
In addition to the new cameras listed above, we also maintain the CCTV cameras that were installed as part of the substantial stand-alone extension that took place in 2015 to create a new Science, Design & Technology block.
Access Control
The safeguarding procedures at the school are integral to the safety and security of all attendees, and the Access Control System plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school.
Installation of New System.
During the Summer Holidays of 2020, we installed a Paxton Entry System at the main entrance to the school, as well as at the reception entrance and science block entrance – the main footfall entry points to the school.
The system included the installation of two Net2 Entry control units, one at the main reception, and the other at the science block.
The unit is the central interface between a panel and the door, so when a visitor initiates a video call via the bell button on the external panel, the staff member located in the main reception or science block reception can see the person, talk to them and then grant access.
For authorised personnel, the system also allows access via a fob or by using a PIN code.
Fire Safety System
With over 1,000 students as well as staff and visitors, fire safety is vital, and since 2021, we’ve been involved in the re-configuration and maintenance of the existing systems and units.
Sports Hall.
In the Summer of 2021, it was decided to reconfigure the Sports Hall smoke sensors from a beam detection system backto sensor units. This project was carried out successfully and the units were integrated into the fire safety system network.
The relationship between both organisations continues to go from strength to strength, so much so, that Plexus FS are the main sponsor of the school’s cup-winning rugby team.
